Leader McConnell Makes the Right Choice to Hold Floor Vote on First Step Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to Senate Majority Leader McConnell’s (R- Ky.) announcement today that the Senate will vote on the First Step Act by the end of the month, Jason Pye, FreedomWorks Vice President of Legislative Affairs, commented:

"We applaud Leader McConnell for committing to bring the First Step Act to the Senate floor for a vote. This criminal justice reform bill has broad bipartisan backing, boasting the support of Sens. Mike Lee, Rand Paul, and Lindsey Graham. President Trump has said that he ‘looks very much forward to signing’ the First Step Act. Once again, we call on Congress to pass the First Step Act before the end of the year."

In the past few months, FreedomWorks grassroots activists have sent 586,530 phone calls, emails and tweets to their elected Representatives and Senators in support of the First Step Act.
