Social Security: Max Pappas Speaks to the Boca Raton Republican Club

On February 24, 2005, FreedomWorks Washington DC Policy Director Max Pappas left snowy Washington DC and was greeted in south Florida by warm, sunny weather and 75 eager members of the Boca Raton Republican Club, including Boca Raton City Councilman Dave Freudenberg and city council candidate Peter Baronoff.

Max gave a presentation on the need for Social Security Reform and the benefits of Personal Retirement Accounts. Max countered the misconceptions being told about reform as he held up a copy of a misleading ad in a newspaper put out by the AARP. Each person in attendance was given the “Take Back AARP” postcard urging the AARP to stop the lies and everybody began filling out these postcards immediately. Max spoke about the need for the truth about reform and Florida State Director John Hallman passed out the Social Security Book, “Building A Nest Egg for You and Your Grandchildren” to each person in attendance.

After Max gave his presentation, a lengthy Q & A followed as Max answered several questions from the audience. Many in the audience commented on understanding the issue much better and Max was able to clear up many misconceptions about Social Security Reform. Florida State Director John Hallman commented, “It was a great opportunity to have somebody of Max’s knowledge and experience come to speak in South Florida and I hope he enjoyed the warm weather as well.”
