On behalf of FreedomWorks’ activist community, I urge you to contact your senators and ask them to cosponsor the Pandemic Preparedness, Response, and Recovery Act, S. 1001, introduced by Sen. James Lankford (R-OK). This bill would help Congress to amend or repeal regulations that impeded our response to COVID-19 and our subsequent recovery.
Both the federal government and state governments ran into a large number of regulatory barriers that needed to be suspended or otherwise altered in order to adequately respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. From occupational licensing to telehealth, there are far too many examples of government restrictions that needlessly set back the pandemic response and are doing the same for the recovery.
The commission established by this bill would study the regulatory changes made necessary by COVID and whether or not they should be made permanent. Very frequently, such unnecessary regulations prove to be actively regressive because large firms and wealthy actors can afford to navigate through them while ordinary individuals and small businesses cannot.
Millions of lives were upended by disastrous lockdowns while our bloated regulatory state was playing catch-up. As Americans nationwide get back to work, it is the duty of our elected officials to get burdensome regulations out of the way to promote a true economic recovery.
For these reasons, I urge you to contact your senators and ask them to cosponsor the Pandemic Preparedness, Response, and Recovery Act, S. 1001.
