Support the Tea Party Budget – Now

Democracy and Power 101:  Government is power

The essence of Government is power; and power, lodged as it must be in human hands, will ever be liable to abuse.

– James Madison, Speech in the Virginia State Convention of 1829-1830

Support the Tea Party Budget – Now

President Barack Obama has dangerously increased America’s debt.  Worse yet, he has more spending schemes and intends to increase taxes on all Americans – not just the rich.  Just how big are Obama’s tax increases?  Glenn Hubbard, Dean of Columbia Business School, reports the following in the Wall Street Journal:

President Obama’s answer is higher taxes. But he can’t be serious. Just accommodating his spending plans over the next decade requires across-the-board tax increases of 20%. Over the next 25 years, taxes would need to rise across the board by 60%.

Hubbard, as an academic, knows cutting spending is essential to reducing the debt.  According to Hubbard, America must alter the trajectory of spending.

It is unfortunate that many members of Congress and much of the public don’t understand that America’s fiscal problems can be solved almost entirely by altering the trajectory of government spending. President Obama’s leadership failure here is obvious.

Unfortunately, Hubbard is asking Congresses and Presidents to be moral and responsible, i.e., altering the trajectory of government spending.  This defies DC’s politics.  Many Presidents and Congresses have knowingly and willfully ignored the consequences of deficit spending; resulting in crisis.

As for altering the trajectory of government spending, Hubbard calls for the repeal of ObamaCare.  Of course, the mantra for health care reform was to “bend the cost curves down.”  To the contrary, Hubbard knows ObamaCare is rocketing spending and the trajectory up.  Will politicians suddenly be upfront and honest?

No. Congresses and Presidents can not be trusted.  A politician’s lust for power – being elected and in the majority – always defeats good governance.  The only means for reducing government is to cut programs and confine the power of government.  This is the purpose of the Tea Party Budget, which specifically defines programs to be cut and reorganized.  A budget defines a course of action for all institutions, e.g., corporations and governments.  The Tea Party Budget is the most detailed and comprehensive action plan.  [Read: http://blogs.freedomworks.org/files/TeaPartyBudget.pdf]

Hubbard did not mention or endorse the Tea Party Budget and is probably unaware of its content. However, all his proposals, e.g., Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, taxes, state responsibilities, etc, are incorporated within Tea Party Budget.

Americans – academics, entrepreneurs, policy wonks, and the public – know government is harmfully broken. Americans know the powerful-elite – special interest predators, politicians and the bureaucrats – will not reform government.

Americans must unite and embrace a plan of action.  The Tea Party Budget boldly eliminates unnecessary federal programs, empowers states and streamlines government.  It eliminates all earmarks, breaks up taxpayer-backed housing banks (such as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac), cuts federal employees by 10 percent and blocks grant Food Stamps to the states.

Only, a strong segment of concerned Americans – particularly the independent voters – will secure the necessary changes.  This is a gigantic fight

Endorse the Tea Party Budget.  Have a friend support the Budget.  Convince one person at a time.  This is the only way reform will occur.  Otherwise, the corrupt politicians, predatory special interests, and the officious bureaucrats will continue with politics as usual, and America will continue to decline.
