TELL GOVERNOR DOYLE TO LIFT THE CAPS ON SCHOOL CHOICE

This fall, more than 4000 students from low-income families may be forced out of their schools and back into the broken system that they and their parents chose to leave.

[TAKE ACTION]

Because Governor Jim Doyle refuses to lift the cap on the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program (MPCP), these students will be forced out of the successful school voucher system. The Department of Public Instruction has instituted a rationing program to ensure that enrollment remains below the state mandated cap of 15,000 students.

Currently, there is legislation in Madison that lifts the cap on the MPCP program. It also provides new accountability measures that make sure the program is responsive to parents and the taxpayers.

Since taking office, Governor Doyle has been steadfast in his opposition to lifting the cap and opening up the program to more low-income Milwaukee families. He has also refused to negotiate on the issue without first extracting more money from taxpayers to reward the struggling Milwaukee Public Schools and their powerful teacher’s union.

Don’t let Governor Doyle and the teacher unions hold Milwaukee’s poorest children and their education hostage for political gain.

Please call Governor Doyle and tell him to LIFT THE CAP ON SCHOOL CHOICE.
