Hundreds of Democrats gathered yesterday at a meeting organized by the centrist Democratic Leadership Council to discuss their agenda and garner support from voters. During the event, Sen. Hillary Clinton unveiled the "American Dream Initiative," a set of economic proposals aimed at helping the middle and lower classes. Similar to the agenda John Kerry campaigned on in 2004, the plan includes proposals for healthcare, retirement security, and making college more affordable.
What Sen. Clinton didn’t mention was how much money their proposals would cost. The "American Dream Initiative" is nothing more than a laundry list of expensive, ineffective policies the Democrats will fund by raising taxes. John Kerry campaigned and lost on similar proposals because the American people understood this, and we certainly won’t let the Dems win with their current tax-and-spend agenda.
