Floridian Jim Kallinger Named CSE’s Activist of the Year

(WINTER PARK) – Today, Slade O’Brien, Director of Florida Citizens for a Sound Economy (CSE), proudly announced that Jim Kallinger is CSE’s Activist of the Year. In November, Jim and Dana Kallinger traveled to Washington, D.C. to attend a congratulatory reception.

“It truly is an honor to receive the CSE Activist of the Year award,” said Jim Kallinger. “For myself and many other dedicated activists nationwide, CSE has provided an effective vehicle for the average citizen to dutifully exercise our right to petition our government to stay true to the ideals of our Constitution and Founding Fathers – freedom through a small, contained government and strong individual liberties. I am grateful to be involved with an outstanding organization like CSE.”

“Until last year, Jim Kallinger had never been really active in politics, but his decision to get involved has not only made an impact; it has earned it him the Richard H. Fink Activist of the Year Award,” said Florida CSE Director Slade O’Brien. “At our board meeting in November, CSE President Paul Beckner honored Jim for his distinguished work in recruiting over 50 activists and building his local chapter into an effective voice in public policy debates. Naturally, Florida CSE was thrilled that this year’s recipient was someone from our home state since we have 14 state chapters nationwide.

O’Brien continued, “As a general contractor from Winter Park, Fla., Jim knew how frustrating it could be to work with government agencies, and he knew that there were “better ways to run government.” After attending a CSE forum on school choice, Jim decided that by being active with CSE, he could make a difference and let the voice of “Joe Citizen” be heard. Jim discovered that educating people about issues that affect them and offering them an avenue to affect policy builds a strong and vibrant organization, and Florida CSE’s campaign for civil justice reform owes its success in no small way to Jim’s efforts.”

“By taking the first steps of learning more about CSE and deciding to join, Jim proved that one person can make a difference. CSE is proud of Jim’s leadership, and we are delighted to bestow upon him this year’s Activist of the Year Award,” concluded O’Brien.
