Radical changes to federal election law have become cause célèbre of Democrats. The House has already passed the For the Politicians Act, H.R. 1, on party lines. Although H.R. 1 has no chance of passage in the Senate, Democrats are discussing other changes to federal elections, including abolishing the Electoral College.

President Trump is looking to leverage his new trade deal, the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), by threatening to withdraw unilaterally from the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). He says this will give Congress the choice between accepting the USMCA, or returning to the pre-NAFTA framework which, he said, worked very well.

Within a few days of Congress returning from recess, House Republicans are once again undermining the document that conservatives promise time and time again to uphold -- the Constitution. This latest move comes despite the GOP losing control of the House just over a week ago for its leadership continually failing to uphold a number of conservative promises to the American people.

On behalf of our activist community, I urge you to contact your senators and representative and ask them to support the legislation to amend the Trade Expansion Act of 1962, to require congressional approval of unilateral trade action taken under Section 232 of that law, . Introduced by Sens. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) and Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-Wis.), the bills would restore congressional authority over trade policy.

Republicans’ consistent platform in elections is an adherence to the Constitution, rule of law, and fiscal responsibility. Two weeks ago, those same Republicans in the Senate allowed both of these to more than fall by the wayside. One might point initially at hearing this to the passage of the omnibus spending bill, which -- make no mistake -- did throw these principles under the bus.

On behalf of our activist community, I urge you to contact your senators and representative and ask them to support the Protecting Data at the Border Act, S. 823 and H.R. 1899, introduced by Sens. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Reps. Jared Polis (R-Colo.) and Blake Farenthold (R-Texas). The bills would safeguard the Fourth Amendment rights of American citizens at the border.

As the economy begins to take off as a result of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, the next big thing we're going to see is a need for workers.
