Last week, blogging from Tampa, I outlined the clear themes that emerged for the Romney campaign. This week, viewing from home, it has already become clear after the first day of the Democrat National Convention which themes they will promote to reelect Barack Obama. Suffice it to say that this will, indeed, be a clear choice in November.
Perfect. Republicans faced Hurricane Isaac during their national convention. Democrats face a Hurricane of Debt during their convention. The national debt is expected to top $16 trillion dollars this week.Obama added over $6 trillion to the nation's debt in less than four years. When he took office it was $9.986 trillion.
When the Romney camp and the Republican establishment rewrote Rule 15 at the RNC to centralize more power within the party hierarchy, they created a massive grassroots backlash from grassroots activists, Tea Partiers, and Ron Paul supporters.
The themes that were developed by the GOP yesterday, which I blogged about here, were out in full force again today. So far, every single speaker has told a story of one of their family members (or, in many cases, themselves) that emigrated to the United States to find freedom and opportunity. It seems to have gone viral - even my cab driver after the event was a very proud new US citizen who hails originally from Haiti.
The delays caused by Hurricane Isaac at the RNC Convention in Tampa, and the subsequent rush of speakers during two days' worth of convention sessions squeezed into a single day, were emblematic of the Romney campaign strategy as a whole. For the past few months, it's been clear that Romney would secure enough delegate votes to secure the election, and the nation has been waiting for the campaign to go on offense against the failed policies and deliberate expansion of government by the Obama administration.
The Romney campaign and Republican party leaders have pulled off an audacious coup that could greatly reduce the influence of grassroots conservatives and libertarians within the party in 2016 and beyond.
Due to the overwhelming response, we've managed to find a way to make more tickets available for the 8/27 FreedomWorks' Take America Back Convention. These new $15 tickets do NOT include dinner, but you'll get to enjoy the convention, get a free t-shirt, and all the GOTV materials you could desire. And there are lots of other great (but not free) dinner options available in the area as well.
