Following Eric Cantor's derogatory remarks about pro-freedom members of the House of Representatives, FreedomWorks National Director of Grassroots Noah Wall commented:
The House passed an amendment on June 19 to require the National Security Agency (NSA) and other intelligence agencies to obtain a warrant prior to collecting the communications of American citizens. This is pretty basic stuff, and it’s not a partisan issue - the amendment passed with the support of 158 Democrats and 135 Republicans.
Democracy and Power 114: The Power Players
Politicians and interest groups control the American political process. Special-interest groups – big business, big unions, education, seniors, and a multitude of others - seek favors: tax breaks, subsidies, exclusive legislation, etc. Interest groups give enormous amounts of money to political campaigns and receive gigantic benefits in return.
FreedomWorks is mobilizing its membership to urge Rep. Raúl Labrador (ID-1) to run for House Majority Leader, following Eric Cantor’s resignation after his primary upset. Activists are calling on Rep. Labrador to run, as well as contacting their representatives in the House to support him. The leadership election will be on June 19, with Rep. Kevin McCarthy (CA-22) currently the only one in the race.
Democracy and Power 102: Voters are Rationally Ignorant
Harmfully, the vast majority of the voters are rationally ignorant of most of our government actions. The public is ignorant of bills, legislation, regulations and taxes that ultimately impact their lives.
A shocking poll was released today by Rasmussen Reports that absolutely obliterates commonly repeated themes, by both Republicans and Democrats; that the Tea Party is too extreme for the average American voter. Indeed, the poll results are a clear vindication of limited government movement, both on principles AND on strategy.
