WASHINGTON, D.C. -- FreedomWorks’ Building Education for Students Together (BEST) is excited to welcome and congratulate Manny Diaz Jr. on his selection as Florida’s newest Education Commissioner.
Mama Bears and Papa Bears, listen up. Nobody is going to save our kids from radical leftist indoctrination in their schools if we don't do it ourselves. The woke mobs show no signs of letting up in their drive to influence how and what our children learn, so we can't afford to let our guard down. It's sad to think that the days of learning reading and writing, basic and advanced math and the facts of American history are in danger of disappearing forever. We've entered a new world in education, and whether it's a "brave new world" depends on how brave we are willing to be.
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- In response to Gov. Ron DeSantis signing the Parental Rights in Education bill, HB 1557, into law, Laura Zorc, FreedomWorks Director of Education Reform, commented:
In 2021, special interests groups and teachers unions worked their air-tight alliances with Democratic politicians to the bone, trying harder than ever to stop parents from having a say in the education of their children.
FreedomWorks is excited to announce that our bill of the month for August 2021 is a Resolution Denouncing the Horrors of Socialism, H.Res. 548. Introduced by Rep. Maria Salazar (R-Fla.), the resolution outlines the history of socialism as a failed ideology that has resulted in the deaths of over 100 million people worldwide.
It’s never been more clear that our country is at a crossroads. The growing divide in America is exemplified by a tale of two states: California and Florida.
In Florida, we have a well-intentioned Governor who has said that he doesn’t want Critical Race Theory (CRT) taught to our kids. We have a State Board of Education that has enjoyed the spotlight for voting to stop CRT from making its way into the classrooms. Parents are told that the Governor’s office is going to play whack-a-mole with the school districts that try to implement CRT.
On behalf of FreedomWorks’ activist community, I urge you to contact your representative and ask him or her to cosponsor the Gigabit Opportunity Act, H.R. 3377, introduced by Rep. Kat Cammack (R-Fla.). The Gigabit Opportunity Act would support rural broadband development by amending the tax code to authorize the designation of qualified gigabit opportunity zones in low-income communities, and to provide tax incentives for investments in these zones.
FreedomWorks is proud to announce that our member of the month for April 2021 is Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.). A new member now representing Florida’s 19th Congressional District in the southwest part of the state, Rep. Donalds came to Washington as a FreedomWorks For America-endorsed candidate after years of public service representing his fellow Floridians in the Florida House of Representatives.
THIS LEGISLATIVE SESSION, which kicks off in Florida in less than two weeks, legislators should, and in areas are poised to, continue their state's leadership on principles of free markets in critical areas.
