Key Vote NO on the PRO Act, H.R. 842

On behalf of our activist community, I urge you to contact your representative and ask him or her to vote NO on the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, H.R. 2474. The PRO Act is one of the most anti-worker and anti-business bills that we have ever seen brought to the House floor, and is an updated version of the PRO Act passed along a near-party line vote during the last Congress in February 2020. Introduced by Rep. Bobby Scott (D-Va.), the PRO Act is a giveaway to labor unions that would harm our economy and would especially target workers who choose not to join unions.

Right-To-Work Laws: Facts and Fallacies

In recent years, the topic of unionization and right-to-work laws has been raised as a fairly contentious issue. As state legislatures sought to recoup the costs incurred due to lost revenue following the Great Recession, de-unionization policies, at least at the public sector level, were floated as cost-cutting measures. But nearly as often, right-to-work laws at the private sector level were also explored and implemented, perhaps most infamously in the case of the state of Wisconsin under Governor Scott Walker.

Right To Work and The Rust Belt

Right to Work is sweeping the rust belt! Workers are free to choose whether or not they would like to join a union in Michigan and Indiana, in the heart of the rust belt, as well as in its further reaches such as Iowa.

American Federation of Teachers vs. Dearborn

The American Federation of Teachers is a little bit clingy. Who can blame them, I suppose, when they are losing left and right? When local affiliates decide to disentangle themselves from the AFT in favor of more local control, the AFT has a very hard time letting go. This is currently the case in Dearborn, Michigan, as the Dearborn Federation of School Employees has decided to strike out on their own. The AFT is not letting them go without a fight.

Union Work on the Taxpayers' Dime

Government makes us pay for a lot of stuff we don’t want. Cowboy poetry and robot squirrels and gherkin specifications and… look, there’s plenty of stupid out there.

Card Check on the Ballot in Alabama

Card check is on the ballot this November in Alabama, and it’s putting voters in the middle of an argument between labor unions and management. Identical measures have been passed in Arizona, South Dakota, and Utah, and a similar measure was also passed in South Carolina. This proposed amendment would make secret ballots part of Alabama’s constitution. These workplace elections would be federally monitored for integrity to prevent any tampering by the workplace or the unions.
