Big labor has always predicated its efforts on an appeal to “workers’ rights,” claiming to fight against exploitation and unfair treatment of employees by powerful corporations who care more about their bottom line than about the safety and well-being of workers.

Detroit is bankrupt. A combination of intense union cronyism, massive red tape and vile political tactics (The Curly Effect) drove the metropolitan area into the ground.

Covered California, the state's Obamacare health insurance exchange, announced on May 14 that it had awarded $37 million to promote the implementation of the health insurance law.  Unsurprisingly, many of the groups selected to receive grants have a similar political bent -- or vested financial interest in selling health care services.

Five years ago, a labor dispute led to a 19-day walkout on Broadway leaving more than two dozen shows dark. In turn, this led to producers and the city of New York losing millions of dollars in potential revenue. That was in 2007, but another potential strike is looming if a deal is not made by the end of the year. This time, it is the 250 cleaners, porters, elevator operators, and bathroom attendants in Broadway’s theaters who are threatening to strike.
