Colorado Ref C: Fat Man Walking Tour

DENVER. Four hundred pounder Steve Vaught (www.thefatmanwalking.com) is walking cross country to lose weight, but in Colorado supporters of the Ref C tax hike have it backwards: they plan to walk statewide to grow and expand the Colorado bureaucracy. Tipping the scales, Colorado government spending will grow 7 percent this year, yet Ref C would raise taxes by $3.7 billion to binge even more. Yet supporters of the Ref C tax increase announced today that they will walk 300 miles in a publicity stunt.

FreedomWorks Colorado State Director Beth Skinner said, “The Ref C tax hike is going nowhere fast, so supporters of Ref C are resorting to desperate publicity gimmicks like this statewide walk.”

“Instead of the Ref C tax increase, they should be walking for leaner government and to trim taxes.”

“For every step the Ref C tax hikers take on their 300 mile journey, they’re asking for about $4,600 in higher taxes from Colorado citizens. Colorado knows better. It’s not safe to pick up hitchhikers these days, and it’s even more unsafe to pick up the Ref C tax hikers. Let’s vote NO on Ref C.”

The “Vote No Its Your Dough” Coalition is working hard to educate Colorado citizens about the Referendum C tax increase. For more information, please visit www.taxincrease.org and www.noonrefc.com .
