On behalf of our activist community, I urge you to contact your senators and representative and ask them to cosponsor the Time to Rescue United States Trusts (TRUST) Act, S. 1295 and H.R. 2575. Introduced by Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) and Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-Wis.), the TRUST Act would create committees to review federal trust funds that are facing fiscal insolvency and make recommendations to reform the programs that are funded by those trust funds.
Last Thursday, the House of Representatives passed a bill to repeal the 2002 Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF) that gave the President the authority to go forward with the invasion of Iraq. During the debate on Wednesday night, President Barack Obama and GOP nominee Mitt Romney were asked the question “Does the Federal Government have a responsibility to improve the quality of public education in America?” The candidates, as expected, had very different answers.
A new ad for the Obama 2012 campaign came out. Ordinarily I watch those ads, shake my head, and continue on. In this case, however, the falsehoods and misconceptions are so awful that I had to call attention to it. Here is the ad, with commented transcript below.
