When the Senate returns next week, the chamber will continue to process the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for FY 2021, S. 4049. This is the annual authorizing bill for the Department of Defense (DOD), which can, at times, include controversial provisions.

However, various special interests have been using this for their own benefit at the expense of the American people. As has been consistent for decades, several businesses have been using the defense bill to protect their industries, which has led to waste, inefficiency, and unnecessary spending with the taxpayers footing the bill.

During Wednesday night's presidential debate, President Obama and Mitt Romney disputed over the military budget.  Obama accused Romney of supporting “$2 trillion in additional military spending that the military hasn’t asked for.” Instead of denying the repea
