A recent Wall Street Journal article has surprisingly good news: US companies are seeing the highest profit growth in two years with “two consecutive quarters of double-digit profit growth for the first time since 2011.” This surprisingly comes not from policies pursued in Washington, but the hard work of the private sector.

Who doesn’t love some Memphis soul music? Certainly, no red-blooded American could feel that way. However, in the current economy, we are all being forced to cut back on things that we enjoy.  Entertainment expenses are on the chopping block around the country. Concert attendance is down as people are cutting back on non-essentials. It’s not just musical events, either.

It is a strange sign of the world in which we live that politicians are compared to Jesus Christ himself. It’s interesting, however, to look at the reactions to these bizarre proclamations. Let’s take a look at Barack Obama and Marco Rubio, for example. Both have been called a savior recently, but the reactions from the men were markedly different. 

“I, Barack Obama, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim January 16, 2013, as Religious Freedom Day.” 

The delays caused by Hurricane Isaac at the RNC Convention in Tampa, and the subsequent rush of speakers during two days' worth of convention sessions squeezed into a single day, were emblematic of the Romney campaign strategy as a whole. For the past few months, it's been clear that Romney would secure enough delegate votes to secure the election, and the nation has been waiting for the campaign to go on offense against the failed policies and deliberate expansion of government by the Obama administration.

On September 9, 2009 Barack Obama gave a speech on health care before a Joint Session of Congress in which he said that “every day, 14,000 Americans lose their coverage.”  In an email to its members on August 27, 2009 promoting vigils for those who can’t afford health insurance, MoveOn cited the same statistic of 14,000 people losing their coverage every day.  From where did this figure come and is it accurate?  MoveOn cites a study done by the Center for American Progress (CAP), a liberal think tank, in February of 2009 as the source of the statistic.

Tonight is a very important night. Not only will the endless TV and radio commercials finally stop, but I get to caucus! I'll show up early to East High School in Sioux City- still undecided- to join in the democratic process. I'll let the campaign members try to convince me. If they don't, I'm caucusing for Milton Friedman. Like Peter said in a previous post, victories for either Huckabee or Edwards would be disastrous.
