Support True Competition for Internet Consumers

Please contact your legislators and ask them to support H1587, a bill currently before the North Carolina legislature.  This bill would make it difficult for local governments to get into the telecommunications market.

H1587
would make it harder for local governments to use your tax dollars to enter the telecommunications market, improve transparency and reduce unfair advantages for for government entrants.

Under current law, local governments can easily use general revenue funds to get into the telecommunications market. And by draining general revenue funds to interfere in the marketplace they have a huge incentive to raise your taxes in order to refill the coffers. TAKE ACTION!

H1587 would ensure that the private companies compete for your service, and that the free market is able to allocate resources fairly and efficiently.

Eleven other states have passed similar sensible restrictions on municipalities:  Arkansas, Georgia, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, and Virginia.

Help us pass this pro-consumer legislation in North Carolina!

TAKE ACTION!

Sincerely,
