Oppose Tax Increases in North Carolina!

For those of you living in the counties listed below, your county commissioners are considering placing a real estate transfer tax increase and/or sales tax increase on the ballot in an upcoming election.

If passed, your real estate transfer tax would go from 0.2% to 0.6% of a home’s sale price, a 200% increase.
If passed, your local sales tax will increase by $.025.

If you live in one of the following counties, please call your county commissioners and ask them not to place these tax increases on the ballot!

Alexander
Avery
Caswell
Duplin
Edgecombe
Jackson
Lee
Nash
Orange
Pamlico
Polk

Whether you live in an affected county or not, this is a matter of extreme urgency – these taxes need to be stopped before they continue to spread!

In the last legislative session, the North Carolin General Assembly gave counties the authority to take these tax increases to the voters. In this past November election, there were 33 county tax issues on the ballot.  Voters said no to 27 of the 33 increases.

Despite this overwhelming NO to  tax increases, additional counties are still considering balloting the issues.
