The 2018 midterm cycle is already shaping up to be a tough year for Republicans in the House, with many predicting a “blue wave” this fall and speculating that the GOP will lose its majority because of it. For those of us who have been preaching Obamacare doom and gloom since long before it was THE LAW OF THE LAND, the temptation to take a good, long wallow in the Schadenfreude this week is overwhelming. Fittingly, the horrors of the not-so-Affordable Care Act are coming to light for some of its staunchest supporters during the Halloween season.

Interesting news out of South Carolina this morning. Bruce Carroll, an openly gay Republican and board member at GOProud, has resigned his position on that organization’s board of directors. He is seriously contemplating making a run for Senate and challenging Lindsey Graham in the primary. If successful, Carroll would be South Carolina’s first openly gay Senator.

The newly adopted Democratic National Party Platform includes a plank in which the redistribution of wealth from countries who fail to meet climate change commitments, to developing countries likely to be harmed by greenhouse gas emissions, becomes a likelihood.  The climate change portion of the platform reads:
