On behalf of our activist community, I urge you to contact your representative and ask him or her to cosponsor the Earmark Elimination Act, H.R. 1086, introduced by Reps. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.) and Ted Budd (R-N.C.). The bill would make permanent the temporary moratorium on congressional earmarks put into effect in 2010 by creating a point of order against any provision within a bill that matches the definition of an earmark.
On behalf of our activist community, I urge you to contact your representative and ask him or her to cosponsor the amendment to the United States Constitution to limit the number of terms Members of the House and Senate can serve, H.J.Res. 12, introduced by Rep. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.). The amendment already has an impressive list of 21 cosponsors.

First elected in a June 2017 special election to succeed Mick Mulvaney, who became director of the Office of Management and Budget, Rep. Norman has proven to be a strong ally for liberty, holding a 100 percent score on the FreedomWorks Scorecard and has won our FreedomFighter Award twice.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation recently released its annual crime statistics report. There hasn’t been much media coverage of the report, but it does show the violent crime rate in 2018 was at its second-lowest point since this particular crime metric peaked in 1991. Generally, crime rates fell across the board compared to 2017.

On Wednesday, January 13, more than 100 FreedomWorks activists gathered for a pre-debate luncheon at Sticky Fingers Ribhouse in downtown Charleston, South Carolina to hear FreedomWorks Senior Economic Contributor, Stephen Moore, brief them on what to expect in tonight’s G.O.P. debate.
On Tuesday, President Barack Obama will deliver his last State of the Union address to Congress. The address will no doubt have a heavy focus on foreign policy, terrorism, and controversial gun control actions. Another topic expected to receive some attention, with legislation on the move in the Senate, is criminal justice reform.
On Monday, I was pleased to join FreedomWorks activists from South Carolina's 5th District as they met with their congressman, Mick Mulvaney. Activists thanked Congressman Mulvaney for standing for them and for standing with the House Freedom Caucus. Congressman Mulvaney joined us for a breakfast meeting at the Anna J restaurant in Rock Hill.
