FreedomWorks Announces the 2012 Recipients of the “FreedomFighter Award”

Washington, DC- FreedomWorks presented its first annual “FreedomFighter Award” to members of the House and Senate who consistently vote in defense of economic freedom. Each recipient earned a minimum score of 90 percent on the FreedomWorks Congressional Scorecard during the 2011 legislative session, which often required lawmakers to cast politically unpopular votes inside the beltway in order to protect liberty and strengthen the economy across the country.

FreedomWorks President Matt Kibbe commented, “Our job as engaged citizens is to hold politicians accountable for bad votes, but also to thank them for making the right votes. FreedomWorks congratulates every recipient of the ‘FreedomFighter Award,’ and encourages them to keep up the good fight.”

The FreedomWorks Congressional Scorecard is a revolutionary new piece of technology that allows activists to track the votes of Members of Congress on key issues of economic freedom. Users can search by zip code, name, state, political party, or score ranking (highest-to-lowest or vice versa).

“Both Democrats and Republicans are responsible for the staggering debt and unemployment rates in the US, and it’s time we start holding every member accountable,” Kibbe continued. “FreedomWorks created our Congressional Scorecard to help activists across the country track, in real time, the legislation being voted on in Congress and to see which members protect the liberties and economic interests of the American people- and which ones do not.”
