Health Care Petitions Delivered to Capitol Hill

Over the 4th of July, Freedomworks volunteers collected hundreds of signatures on petitions opposing socialized medicine at Tea Parties and other events across the country. Last week, FreedomWorks interns delivered those petitions to the appropriate members of Congress.

Below are photos of some of those deliveries and contact information for each office. Thanks so much to those patriots who signed and sent in petitions!

Please take a few moments to call your representatives and make sure they understand that their constituents oppose a federal take over of the health care system.

Rep. Sanford Bishop (D-GA)

DC Office: 202-225-3631

Status: Delivered

Rep. Dan Boren (D-OK)

DC Office: 202-225-2701

Status: Delivered

Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA)

DC Office: 202-224-3553

Status: Delivered (Questionable) – Not only were we unable to see Sen. Boxer or her health care legislative assistant, the receptionist refused to give us a business card or number to call for a follow up. Please call the main office line and make sure they know we are watching.

Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-GA)

DC Office: 202-224-3521

Status: Delivered

Rep. Jo Ann Emerson (R-MO)

DC Office: 202-225-4404

Status: Delivered (Discussed) – Staffer Jennifer Kasten assured us that the Congresswoman is against new taxes and a public option. Call and make sure she stays that way!

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA)

DC Office: 202-224-3841

Status: Delivered (Questionable) – We were able to hand the petitions directly to Sen. Feinstein’s health care legislative assistant, but there was a major ruckus in the waiting room that kept us from talking much. Apparently some of the Senator’s constituents are surprised and upset that she still has not come out in support of a public option. There may still be hope here. Call and make sure Sen. Feinstein knows you support her silence and encourage her to vote against socialized medicine.

Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-GA)

DC Office: 202-224-3643

Status: Delivered

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA)

DC Office: 202-225-3906

Status: Delivered (Discussed) – Megan Hendrickson, the health care legislative assistant, met with us and described the different sides to the current healthcare debate. She said that the Congressman does not support a public option and that the Republican caucus is looking for alternative solutions to the plan proposed in the House. Call and make sure they find one!

Rep. Jack Kingston (R-GA)

DC Office: 202-225-5831

Status: Delivered (Discussed) – We were met promptly by Rep. Kingston’s health care legislative assistant, who expressed strong support for FreedomWorks and our activists and emphasized that Rep. Kingston is against any form of a government-run plan. She also voiced concern that it will be very difficult for Republicans to stop the take over, and that ultimately an outcry from constituents will be the only thing that can defeat it. So call and thank her and then call every other office on this list and cry out!

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO)

DC Office: 202-224-6154

Status: Delivered

Sen. David Vitter (R-LA)

DC Office: 202-224-4623

Status: Delivered (Discussed) – Sen. Vitter’s legislative assistant, Mike, was very friendly and helpful. He assured us that Sen. Vitter stands with his constituents who oppose socialized medicine. Call to thank Mike and Sen. Vitter for standing strong against the statist onslaught in Congress.
