Democratic Socialist Senator Bernie Sanders is the epitome of the "broken clock" metaphor. While he can be right at least twice a day on things like civil liberties and foreign policy, he’s catastrophically wrong on just about everything else, especially when it comes to the economics of medicine. So it should be no surprise that Senator Sanders has introduced a bill imposing price controls on pharmaceutical drugs in the US based on price controls found in socialized medical systems overseas. It is bitterly disappointing, however, that newly-elected Florida Senator Rick Scott, a Republican, has introduced a substantially similar piece of legislation as well.
