A Reluctant Activist is Born

Over the last few years we’ve seen an incredible number of women who have become actively engaged in the political process. Numerous issues, such as healthcare, the national debt and our economy, have created a climate where women are compelled to speak up about issues that affect their families. 

I am grateful for this platform to share about the issue that has intimately affected our lives. It’s an issue that I believe must be addressed by every person in America. It is the battle to save our children and reform a failling public school system. 

With movies such as “Waiting for Superman” and “The Lottery” and the recent protests in Wisconsin, millions of Americans are being educated and, at the same time, outraged at the decline of our public education system. Even more shocking to millions has been the teachers’ unions that are seemingly hell-bent on maintaining the status quo, no matter how terrible that may be. Up until a few years ago, I was fairly naive as to the bureaucracies and politicians that benefit from that status quo, but that has changed
