Obama Recovery is Dead Last in Job Growth

The Obama administration is fond of reminding the American public that private sector jobs have grown by 4.1% over the past 28 months. The detail they are leaving out, however, can be found in this Commentary by the Joint Economic Committee Republicans . Though private sector jobs have been growing, as the President claims, this is the slowest recovery in American history.

To compare, during the recession of the Reagan years, private sector jobs grew by 10.7% over the same 28 months period. This 28 month period begins at the lowest point of the economic downturn and allows recessions of different magnitudes to be compared fairly. This handy little chart, found in the aforementioned Commentary, powerfully illustrates how little Obama’s presidency has done for the economy.
