FreedomWorks Activists Continue to Lead Fight Against H.R.1
WASHINGTON, D.C. — In just the past two weeks, FreedomWorks activists have driven more than 30,000 calls to Congress on H.R. 1, and they have logged over 523.9 hours, accounting for more than three weeks in total time, on the phone urging members to oppose the bill. FreedomWorks activists have also sent over 189,000 messages and delivered more than 40,000 petition signatures to their elected officials. Their fierce opposition to H.R. 1 will continue until this bill and its dangerous provisions are defeated.
Since H.R. 1, the "For the People" Act, was first introduced in 2019, FreedomWorks activists have led the charge against it. When it was reintroduced in early January 2021, they were quick to get to work voicing their opposition to the bill once again.
H.R. 1, if passed, would increase federal control of elections at the expense of individual states. At the same time, it would have a chilling effect on free speech and open up private citizens to harassment for their political views.

Recent polling conducted in partnership with Scott Rasmussen indicates that the American people by and large do NOT support the provisions contained within H.R.1:
- 79 percent of American voters support states implementing voter ID laws
- 72 percent support states’ rights to clean up their voter registration lists within six months of any election
- 61 percent of Americans support sending mail-in ballots only to those who request them
