FreedomWorks Activists Storm Congress to Repeal ObamaCare

Tea Party tactics were excellent when there were not Republican majorities in Congress and when the president was opposed to all conservative policies. The large rallies protesting burdensome taxes and gross overspending in Washington worked then, but now it’s time for a different approach.

From March 15 to April 15, FreedomWorks will begin to unleash new tactics. Starting with a Day of Action in the nation’s capital, somewhere around 1,000 voters will gather to tell Congress that they must promptly repeal and replace ObamaCare. Following a rally with key members of the House and Senate, the activists will split up into delegations of 20 to 30 to visit legislators and remind them of their campaign promises to repeal and replace.

“There will be speeches by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky), Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), Rep. Dave Brat (R-Va), and others, but the Day of Action will center around in-person visits with elected officials in the House and Senate,” FreedomWorks CEO Adam Brandon said.

“Rallies by themselves are a defensive tactic used by those without significant leverage in the government. It’s time to move from defense to offense.

“March 15th is only the beginning. In districts around the country, we’ll be coordinating constituent visits with members of the House and Senate. For some legislators, our activists will strengthen their hands and encourage their efforts; for others, our activists will take them to task and hold them to their words.”
