FreedomWorks Applauds Governor Ducey’s Commitment to In-Person Learning Amid Wave of School Closures

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to Arizona Governor Doug Ducey’s creation of the Open for Learning Recovery Benefit program, which provides relief for parents affected by recent school closures and doubles down on his commitment to student wellbeing and in-person learning, Laura Zorc, FreedomWorks Director of Education Reform, commented:

“Students across the country have been greatly harmed by unscientific school closures and will likely be suffering from the effects for years to come. Despite evidence that online learning has been a failure and that it is safe to keep schools open, teachers unions and liberal politicians are pushing for school closures once again. Clearly, this is no longer about keeping kids safe—there is something much more sinister going on and all parents should be on guard.

“We applaud Governor Ducey for creating a program that will help parents secure access to in-person learning for their children should they be affected by school closures. Other states should follow Arizona’s lead.”
