FreedomWorks Foundation Activists Submit Formal Comments Opposing Corporate Climate Disclosure Proposal
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Yesterday, FreedomWorks Foundation submitted formal comments to the Securities and Exchanges Committee (SEC) urging them to reconsider their position on corporate climate disclosure. A total of 176 individuals from 37 different states joined us in opposing new, costly disclosure requirements.
“As FreedomWorks activists pointed out in their comments to the SEC, there already exists a federally approved mechanism by which companies who choose to do so can voluntarily disclose information about climate change. Creating a new federal mandate out of a voluntary system does little to ‘inform investors’ and will only harm small businesses that lack the resources to comply with burdensome disclosure requirements.”
