FreedomWorks Foundation Statement in Response to House Democrats’ Efforts to Revive Net Neutrality

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to House Democrats’ efforts to re-implement the Obama Administration’s net neutrality regulations, Patrick Hedger, FreedomWorks Foundation Director of Policy, commented:

“House Democrats’ recent efforts, exemplified by the House Energy and Commerce hearing today to revive the burdensome Obama-era net neutrality regulations, are futile.

“Contrary to Democrats’ doomsday rhetoric, FCC chairman Ajit Pai’s decision to repeal the net neutrality regulations has been good for American consumers and businesses alike. Broadband investment has rebounded. Internet speed has increased 40% on average and the number of Americans with high-speed internet connections grew by 20 percent in the year following net neutrality repeal.

“The fact that net neutrality was a non-issue in the 2018 midterms speaks for itself– Americans are wise to Democrats’ ‘sky-is-falling’ narrative.”
