FreedomWorks Names Member and Bill of the Month for April 2021
WASHINGTON, D.C. — This week, FreedomWorks announced Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) as our featured Member of the Month and a resolution condemning Modern Monetary Theory, H.Res. 267 and S.Res. 136, introduced by Rep. Kevin Hern (R-Okla.) and Sen. Mike Braun (R-Ind.) as our featured Bill of the Month for April 2021.
On his selection as FreedomWorks’ Member of the Month for April 2021, Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) commented:
“FreedomWorks is one of the few organizations in Washington that is committed to advancing liberty for all Americans. I’m extremely honored to be named their April 2021 ‘Member of the Month.’
“I came to Congress to protect and defend the Constitution, above all else. I’m looking forward to working alongside FreedomWorks to promote policies that enhance economic freedom, limit the size and scope of the federal government, and fight unnecessary tax increases.”
On the selection of his H.Res. 267 as FreedomWorks’ Bill of the Month for April 2021, Rep. Kevin Hern (R-Okla.) commented:
“It’s no secret we have a spending problem in Washington, DC. Instead of working hard to cut wasteful spending and pay down our deficits, the majority is latching onto Modern Monetary Theory as an excuse to spend taxpayer dollars as quickly as possible. The reality is that debts matter; deficits matter. This resolution affirms the fact that Modern Monetary Theory is an irresponsible ideology that would lead to higher deficits and inflation and would do nothing to put us back on the path to fiscal responsibility.
“I’m glad that FreedomWorks selected my resolution as their Bill of the Month and look forward to working with them to continue eliminating irresponsible spending practices in our government.”
On the selection of his S.Res. 136 as FreedomWorks’ Bill of the Month for April 2021, Sen. Mike Braun (R-Ind.) commented:
“Modern Monetary Theory is a recipe for hyper-inflation, higher deficits, and higher taxes. While I’m not surprised that the big spenders in D.C. have latched onto a theory that tells them to spend irresponsibly and hike taxes, I believe we must denounce this flawed economic model before it’s too late.
“I appreciate FreedomWorks highlighting my resolution against this dangerous economic model as their Bill of the Month.”
