FreedomWorks Praises House’s Passage of Right to Try Act of 2017

Washington, DC- Today the House passed legislation to allow terminally ill patients to use experimental phase one drugs, FreedomWorks is proud to stand with thousands of patients across the country whose lives depend on the “Right to Try."

Thirty-eight states have already passed similar versions of “Right to Try” legislation. In the months leading up to the vote, FreedomWorks mobilized nearly a quarter million grassroots activists to send more than 240,000 messages and made over 2,000 phone calls to Congress urging legislators to pass Right to Try.

FreedomWorks Vice President of Legislative Affairs Jason Pye commented:

“Thanks to the passage of the Right to Try Act, terminally ill patients with no other options will be one step closer to having access to potentially lifesaving treatments.”

“Right to Try will allow terminally ill Americans to bypass the bureaucratic red tape and take control of their own health. After all, the right to try is the right to fight for your life.”

The "Right to Try" is a salient issue for President Trump’s administration. President Trump himself mentioned it in last January’s State of the Union address.
