FreedomWorks Reiterates Opposition to the Credit Card Competition Act

Washington, D.C. – In response to Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) filing the Credit Card Competition Act as an amendment to the reauthorization of the Federal Aviation Amendment, Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks president, commented:

“I don’t understand why leadership would let this fly. The Credit Card Competition Act’s only connection to air travel is its sure-fire ability to cancel those two tickets to paradise you got with those credit card reward points. The FAA reauthorization is critical to ensure that air travel remains safe and reliable.”

The CCCA has no business being attached to the FAA authorization. It’s an anti-consumer bill clocked in a lie of consumer protection. It will only serve to eliminate credit card rewards like the Durbin amendment crashed a high-flying debit card reward system. Further, it will reduce the airlines’ ability to meet the needs of their customers and their investors. It’s contrary to the entire purpose of maintaining a reliable aviation sector and shouldn’t come to the floor, never mind be attached to a must-pass bill.”

FreedomWorks exists to mobilize the principled center and politically homeless in America who do not feel their values of fiscal responsibility, social tolerance, and individual liberty are being represented in political discourse today.
