FreedomWorks Response to Lack of Transparency in Relief Package Negotiations by Congressional Leadership

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to continued negotiations on a COVID-19 spending relief package behind closed doors, Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks President, commented:

“Congressional leadership is currently negotiating the next COVID-19 spending relief package behind closed doors, with no scrutiny from duly elected Members of the House and Senate, and the American public. The previous fiscal year ended on September 30, yet Congress has continued to punt on a government funding deal. The fact is, these deadlines are not a surprise to anyone.

“Therefore, FreedomWorks is calling on leadership to pass a short-term continuing resolution until early March, 2021, so that duly elected Members can have input in the process. It is no coincidence that Congressional leadership is negotiating this whilst the American public’s attention is turned elsewhere.”
