FreedomWorks Statement in Response to Biden Warsaw Remarks

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to President Biden’s remarks today from Warsaw, Poland on the ongoing War in Ukraine, Cesar Ybarra, FreedomWorks Vice President of Policy, commented:

“The United States is right to stand with the people of Ukraine against barbaric, unwarranted Russian aggression. In his remarks today, President Biden reinforced this point. However, Biden neglected to make clear the need for increased accountability and oversight regarding any aid sent to Ukraine.

“In the year since the start of the Russian invasion, the United States has contributed more than $24 billion towards Ukraine’s defense. Biden can call for further aid all he wants, but it is Congress that must ensure that this is done in a responsible manner by way of a sober debate. So far, the aid sent to Ukraine has been more akin to a blank check rather than a prudent, measured package.”

“Above all, the United States and its NATO allies must pursue a diplomatic end as a means to avoid escalating the devastating conflict further.”
