FreedomWorks Statement in Response to FBI Raid of Mar-a-Lago
WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to the raid by Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents of former President Donald Trump’s Florida residence, Mar-a-Lago, Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks President, commented:
“The FBI’s raid of former President Trump’s Florida residence is at first shocking. However, once you consider the recent history of Deep State actors, nothing about this political hit job should surprise you. Time and time again the FBI has shown that it is corrupt to its core. Whether it be Hillary Clinton’s email scandal, the falsified Steele Dossier, or the intentional dismissal of Hunter Biden’s business dealings, the FBI, along with the Department of Justice, have made clear they are tools of the Deep State. They pursue their goal of preserving the establishment status quo at the expense of the integrity of the rule of law.”
“Furthermore, this entire episode has been ridiculous. Former President Trump has been cooperating with the FBI. In the past 40 years, there’s only been a single instance of prosecution under the Presidential Records Act, and there’s never been a warrant executed on a former president’s home in the history of the country. This is unprecedented and clearly politically motivated.”
“As House Republicans get ready to win in November, we urge them to do more than just hold hearings. The people are tired of hearings and no action. Will Republicans continue to fund the corrupt FBI and DOJ or will they use the power of the purse to their advantage to demand an overhaul of our federal justice system? Hearings are a woefully insufficient response. We need action.”
