FreedomWorks Statement in Response to Florida Implementation of Parental Rights Laws

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to the Florida State Board of Education’s formal adoption yesterday of measures to implement recently passed laws that benefit parental rights, Laura Zorc, FreedomWorks Director of Education Reform, commented:

“Florida is leading the nation when it comes to the issue of parental rights in education. For too long, left-wing teachers’ unions have held sway over the extent that parents know what is being taught in the classroom. To see these laws implemented is a major win for transparency in the realm of education, and we hope to see similar laws implemented across the country as many parents have now become aware of the indoctrination that is all too prevalent in public schools.”

“At FreedomWorks’ Building Education for Students Together (BEST), we have worked hard over the past two years to educate and prepare parents to not only effectively pushback against out-of-touch school boards, but to run for these positions themselves. Florida has been a major centerpiece of our efforts, and we are proud to see that Gov. DeSantis’ push for education reform has been realized today by the State Board of Education. This is a victory for parents who simply want what is best for their children.”
