FreedomWorks Statement in Response to Today’s Supreme Court Hearing on Student Loans

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to today’s Supreme Court hearing on student loans, Noah Wall, FreedomWorks Executive Vice President, commented:

“President Biden’s scheme to cancel student loan debt is reckless and unconstitutional. Last year, former Speaker Pelosi admitted that the President does not have the authority to impose such a policy by executive fiat. Instead, it should be up to Congress to decide whether to pass such legislation.

“If this executive order were to go into effect, it would only pile onto the financial burdens Americans are feeling with inflation. This directive would continue to promote irresponsible financial decisions, and it would be a slap in the face to those who either paid off their student loans or didn’t even attend college.”
