FreedomWorks Statement in Support of House Freedom Caucus Efforts To Cut Government Spending

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s comments vilifying the House Freedom Caucus’ efforts to return fiscal responsibility to Washington, Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks President, commented:

“Our nation is barreling toward $50 trillion in debt, and the House Freedom Caucus is committed to reverse its trajectory and to stop the out-of-control spending that plagues Washington. Republicans ostensibly call their party the party of fiscal responsibility; however, as the party’s leadership is pining for the status quo, the small group of Republicans are demonized for their efforts to enact real change. The Freedom Caucus introduced a common sense plan that will eliminate new spending, and the entire Republican Party must realize that we can no longer afford to go down this fiscally irresponsible path.”

Background:
On Tuesday, July 25th, FreedomWorks held a joint press conference with the House Freedom Caucus, calling for fiscal reform in the FY24 Appropriations process. The Freedom Caucus is committed to stop out-of-control spending on Capitol Hill and to return fiscal order to the federal government.
