FreedomWorks Statement in Response to Education Secretary Cardona’s Coordination with the National School Boards Association

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to the news that Education Secretary Miguel Cardona solicited the letter from the National School Boards Association (NSBA) that asked the Department of Justice to open investigations into parent activists as “domestic terrorists,” Laura Zorc, FreedomWorks Director of Education Reform, commented:

“The fact that evidence of coordination between the federal government and the NSBA continues to emerge is incredibly disturbing. It does, however, vindicate parent activists who have been unjustly vilified by the Left for showing up to school board meetings and trying to take back the classroom from power hungry bureaucrats who could care less about children’s education.”

“For anyone who still thinks that there is nothing shady about the air-tight alliance between high ranking Democrats and special interest groups like the NSBA and teachers unions, I hope that this new evidence, which implicates Secretary Cardona in a scandalous abuse of power, changes their minds.”

“I encourage all parent activists to keep fighting for your children even in light of the serious misdeeds by those who profess to act in the best interests of our kids.”
