FreedomWorks Statement in Response to the Freedom to Vote Act’s Failed Cloture Vote

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to the Freedom to Vote Act’s failed cloture vote, Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks President, commented:

“Nothing more than a failed rebrand of H.R. 1, otherwise known as the ‘Corrupt Politicians Act,’ the Freedom to Vote Act represents another attempt by Democrats to federalize our elections. This supposed compromise bill threatens to run roughshod over the first amendment, funnels taxpayer money for political campaigns, and attacks widely popular state election integrity policies.

“This failed cloture vote emphasizes the importance of the Senate filibuster as a safeguard against runaway legislators in Washington seeking radical change with slim majorities.”

FreedomWorks activists made over 2,662 calls to Senate offices, for a total of 36.8 hours spent on the phone, asking their senators to vote “no” on the Freedom to Vote Act.
