FreedomWorks Statement in Response to House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Decision to Table Vote to Proceed With Public Whistleblower Testimony

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence’s vote today to table a motion that would have provided for the whistleblower’s testimony to be heard in a public hearing, Noah Wall, FreedomWorks Vice President of Advocacy, commented:

“The decision by the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence to table a motion allowing the whistleblower to testify in a closed hearing is just the latest example of how Democrats want to deny Republicans the ability to question this person.

“Hearing from the individual who began this impeachment sham is essential to openness, due process, and fairness. Furthermore, House Republicans were more than willing to respect the whistleblower’s request for anonymity. Yet, Chairman Schiff believes that only he is worthy to speak with the crucial witness in this impeachment inquiry.

“There is no reason that HPSCI should not hear directly from the initial accuser. Chairman Schiff should be ashamed that he is once again denying the minority their most basic rights to due process.”
