FreedomWorks Statement in Response to Joe Biden’s Selection of Sen. Kamala Harris as Running Mate

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to presumptive Democratic Presidential Nominee Joe Biden’s choice of Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) as his running mate for the 2020 Presidential Election, Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks President, commented:

“Ironically enough, Joe Biden may have chosen the most ruthlessly opportunistic candidate he could as his vice presidential pick. A senator with a big-government, authoritarian streak, Harris is better known for her pre-2020 presidential campaign record as the California AG who threatened parents with jail time for truancy. Is it not ironic that former Vice-President Biden would pick someone who is arguably even worse on the issue of criminal justice reform than himself to serve as his running mate?

“Compare this to President Trump, who signed into law the landmark criminal justice reform bill, the First Step Act, which put in place smart-on-crime sentencing and prison reforms. Whereas Kamala Harris wants to end private health insurance in favor of government-run ‘care,’ President Trump has supported healthcare freedom.

“Biden’s choice of Sen. Harris has made the choice ever more clear this election.The DNC should expect to suffer seriously at the polls as a result.”
