FreedomWorks Statement in Response to Mishandling of Iowa Caucuses
WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to the tremendous incompetence regarding the mishandling of the 2020 Iowa Democratic caucuses, Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks’ President, commented:
“The Democratic caucuses in Iowa were an unmitigated disaster. The state party relied on an app to report the results and it crashed, leaving the contest in flux. Imagine if this sort of calamity had happened on a national stage in a general election.
“Many states are using unreliable electronic voting machines that leave our nation’s electoral infrastructure susceptible to hacking, or failures like we saw in Iowa. There are numerous, bipartisan bills in both chambers of Congress that would provide states and localities the resources they need to have voter-verified paper ballot backups. FreedomWorks remains committed to addressing this issue before it causes electoral disaster on a wider level.”
