FreedomWorks Statement in Response to Progressives’ Continued Push to Kill 1.4-2.7 Million Jobs

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to the left’s backdoor efforts to implement an economy-crushing $15 federal minimum wage when their attempt in budget reconciliation to flout the law that is the Byrd Rule was ruled out, Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks’ President, commented:

"When the left doesn’t like the rules, they change them. If they can’t change the rules, they ignore them. If ignoring the rules doesn’t work, they resort to sneaky and dishonest ways of pushing through their agenda.

"The latest outrage from the left on the fate of their $15 federal minimum wage proposal in the budget reconciliation package proves this case in point. Progressives like Sens. Bernie Sanders and Ron Wyden — two of the biggest proponents of the job-crushing minimum wage hike — are now looking into abusing the tax code to force a de facto $15 minimum wage on businesses.

"Overt and covert efforts alike to mandate a federal minimum wage of $15, which would kill between 1.4 and 2.7 million jobs nationwide, must be vehemently opposed at every turn. This is especially true when businesses are already struggling at the hands of big government lockdowns.”
