FreedomWorks Statement in Response to Rep. Kinzinger’s Proposed Ukrainian AUMF Resolution

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to Rep. Adam Kinzinger’s proposed Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) against the Russian Federation should it use chemical, biological, or nuclear weapons in the territory of Ukraine, Cesar Ybarra, FreedomWorks Vice President of Policy, commented:

“Retiring Representative Adam Kinzinger has nothing to lose as he’s preparing to introduce legislation to trigger a hot war against Russia. Instead of looking for a diplomatic off-ramp, Rep. Kinzinger is proposing that Americans go fight a war against Putin should he use a dirty bomb in Ukraine.”

“Representative Kinzinger does not speak for all Americans when he proposes this dangerous resolution. A war against Russia will yield nothing but carnage, despair, and misery. It is clear that Representative Kinzinger’s policy goals are meant to please defense contractors and the foreign policy establishment, not his constituents; he should use his last months serving in the House Foreign Affairs Committee to advocate for peace instead of war.”
