FreedomWorks Statement in Response to Reports of Voter Suppression at Virginia Polls
WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to numerous reports that Virginia voters have been refused entry at polling places for refusing to wear face masks, Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks President, commented:
“The reports today that Virginians have been refused entry to polling places for not wearing face masks is deeply concerning. Let’s be clear, there is no statewide mandate for face masks and the Virginia Board of Elections has since affirmed–today–that voters cannot be denied entry for this reason. We hope that anyone denied their right to vote for this reason is able to engage in the democratic process.
“For all of the rhetoric from Democrats regarding voter suppression, this would be an ideal time for them to stand behind all Americans and support the principle that every legal vote should be counted. Incidents like these undermine Americans’ trust in our electoral systems, transcending party lines.”
