FreedomWorks Statement in Response to Rollback of Governor’s Emergency Powers in Pennsylvania

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to the people of Pennsylvania voting to approve amendments to the state’s constitution that will significantly roll back the governor’s emergency powers, Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks President, commented:

"Governor Wolf, who received an abysmal ‘F’ grade on the ‘Grading Our Governors‘ report card, is one of many executives whose true colors have shown throughout the past year. With the COVID-19 pandemic as their excuse, governors of all political persuasions have run roughshod over the Constitution, with little regard for their citizenry and instead a self-serving desire to increase their own powers.

"Pennsylvanians’ votes yesterday are evidence that Americans will not stand for this type of unaccountable governance, and is hopefully only the beginning of a national movement to ensure this type of power grabbing is never again allowed to happen in our free nation."

Peter Linko, FreedomWorks Activist from Pittsburgh, PA, commented:

“We are ecstatic that the people of Pennsylvania came out in droves to support the amendment to limit Governor Tom Wolf’s emergency powers. It’s time to get back to the ‘old normal,’ and the people have spoken that that is what they want.

“Thanks to FreedomWorks, the grassroots has been empowered to stand together against power hungry leaders like Tom Wolf. Today, the people have won.”
