FreedomWorks Statement in Response to the Senate Judiciary Committee’s Hearing on the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to the Senate Judiciary Committee’s Hearing on the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2021, Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks President, commented:

“Today, the Senate Judiciary Committee examines the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2021, which was introduced last night by Senator Leahy (D-Vt.). This bill will punish state election integrity reforms and put all 50 states at the mercy of unelected partisan bureaucrats in President Biden’s Department of Justice.

"While states like Georgia, Florida, Texas, and Arizona are leading the way to make it easier to vote and harder to cheat, Democrats in Washington are pushing yet another federal power grab. As the Senate considers this radical legislation, Senators Manchin, Hassan, Sinema, and Kelly must oppose any efforts that threaten the existence of the filibuster.”
